First things first: my name is Elina. Now let’s get to the more ‘juicy stuff”…
I started reading blogs in February 2008 and got completely hooked! I didn’t know that healthy food could be so much fun. I’ve struggled with my weight for what seems like my entire life (although I wasn’t always overweight) and blog reading came at the right time in my life when simple calorie counting was just not doing the trick anymore. I started experimenting a little more in my own kitchen and completely fell in love with cooking! My husband (then fiance) was ecstatic about this hobby of mine, too. We were both trying to lose a few pounds before the wedding so my new love for cooking made our weight loss efforts a little easier.
People just assume that healthy eating is boring or if you lose weight, that means you’re starving yourself. That’s really not true! This is why, in October 2008 (after the wedding and the honeymoon craziness was behind us – I got married on July 5, 2008) I decided to start my own blog to be able to share my recipes and weight loss efforts with my sister and anyone else who cared to read.
To stay within a healthy weight range, I go between calorie counting and eating intuitively. The former is definitely a goal of mine to master but I am one of many people that battle emotional eating, so I seem to find my way back to calorie counting when the pounds creep up. Finding that balance isn’t easy, but it’s a goal worth pursuing
