Bright spot in a gray rainy day

March 31st, 2011 · 19 Comments · random favorites

It’s cold and dreary out and the rumor is it’s going to SNOW tomorrow. Disappointed smile I’m not excited about this because I can finally run (!!!!) and running in the snow will just cramp my style Winking smile

What’s making me happy today? My bright red nails.

I got them done SEVEN days ago and there isn’t even one chip. It’s seriously magic. Normally I have at least some chipping the very first night (sometimes by the time I get home from the salon!!) but not this time.

Seriously, I can’t get over it. Adam think I’m crazy but maybe some of you girls can relate.

Have you tried a shellac manicure yet?

PS – Need some foodie inspiration? I just posted a Russian dessert recipe on Russian Bites. Check it. 😀

I need to try the Shellac, that looks amazing after 7 days. I went about 15 years not painting my nails and have been on a big kick lately, it makes me feel pretty for some reason.

Mine never last, which is why I don’t bother painting them — hate chipped nails!

I love it when little things can brighten my day :) Hope you survive this gross weather…good thing it’s not going to last all weekend!

My nails usually chip on my way home, so I am amazed!

I got the gel polish for my wedding and it was perfect because it lasted through my honeymoon. Love your bright color choice!

I have been wanting to try shellacing for a while now, everyone raves about it! I just haven’t had time, but it’s definitely on my list. Love that color!

I just got a pedicure and it was glorious. Something about having my nails done makes me feel clean. I love that color!

oh…I saw the Russian dessert recipe last night, and those little buggers will be making an appearance at my house soon! Hope the snow didn’t cramp your running this morning!

I have not had the Shellac myself, but a few of my friends have and they love it! Your nails look great!

I’m curious to know what you think after you get it taken off. For me, that was a not-so-great experience that left my nails very thin and weak. But, I’ve heard that different nail salons do it differently.

I think you need to soak them for a good amount of time (instead of scraping the polish off). I’ll report back when I do… so far the polish looks as good as on day 1!

They soaked them in acetone for quite a while, which I think is standard practice. But the girl at the place I went to then proceeded to file off the remaining polish, so it was like she took off some of the top layers of my nail! I’ve heard other places scrape instead of file though. I really loved my manicure, I would probably not go to the same place again though!

i noticed them last night! lol, i’m planning on getting some sort of manicure before the wedding i’m in… i’ll have to try this one, as it’s probably the only one that will last :)

I painted my nails last weekend and they are a mess by now- I have been wanting to try this out and I’m jealous of your cute red nails.

Update: After over 2 weeks, my polish still looked like new but my nails were growing out so there were polish-free parts so I got them done again. My nail lady carefully removed the polish so my nails were unharmed. I’m totally addicted now! 😀
