Ok, I don’t know if the title of this post meant “welcome, Aruba!” or “welcome to Aruba”… but either way I guess it works. I’m happy to be here and I think Aruba is happy that I’m here too. Ok, maybe that doesn’t quite work like that. haha 😆
In any case, yes – we are in Aruba!!! We made it here safe and I am so so happy to be here. This lovely drink was handed to us while checking in!! One second Adam was searching through his papers to find the confirmation printout and the next we both had a drink in hand. Oh yeah, this is going to be a good trip! 😀
[I actually only had one sip of it since it was too sweet, but I still loved the gesture. ]
Our resort is gorgeous – the rooms are large and clean…
… and well stocked (yes, this is an all-inclusive resort and apparently they want us to drink A LOT).
After dropping of our bags in the room, we quickly changed and went straight to the buffet for lunch. I was starving. The selections were kind of disappointing. Everything was either fried or covered in onions. I’ve never seen such an onion-filled menu. I was able to make a decent salad with a piece of roasted chicken.
This was actually not nothing to write home (or blog) about. Standard fair and not very much food. But the view was pretty sweet! 😀
Hi, Adam! He liked his wings.
I went back for a 3-bite salami sandwich (scraped the mayo off)…
… and fruit
+ mini pastries (just had 2 bites of each)
This lunch was not particularly good but at the end I felt content. We had Aruba to enjoy after all.
Yes, it’s pretty impossible to take a bad picture here.
Adam looks pretty relaxed, don’t you think?
After exploring our resort, we changed into our bathing suits and went to the beach. Man it was nice! Actually it is CRAZY WINDY here but it’s so hot, it’s kind of nice sometimes. Hopefully the wind subsides though. It’s very strange. Despite the weird wind, the water was great and so relaxing and the sun was shining. It really felt like vacation!
The dinner buffet was world away from the lunch buffet. There were so many delicious looking foods. I opted to make my own stir-fry.
I basically had every veggie in there (minus the onions) + some vermicelli noodles, soy sauce, ginger, garlic and red pepper flakes. FANTASTIC!
I really wanted to taste so many things (buffets are just horrible for portion control) but reminded myself that at home I would never have more than a plate of stir-fry for dinner (+dessert) so I stopped at the stir-fry for the savory portion of dinner. I got a few desserts to try (had a few bites of them) but they escaped the camera (our waiter saw me pull-out my camera and offered to snap a photo of Adam + me and then I forgot that I never took a picture of the dessert. Oops).
Don’t I already look so much more relaxed?
After a walk down the beach, I finally agreed to have a drink with Adam.
… a mojito to be exact. Yum!
And then I went back for ice cream (I shared this bowl with Adam).
I told you buffets get me in trouble!!
I’m enjoying our stay here so far. On the agenda for tomorrow is to have a drink in the pool bar.
How are the rest of you doing?
