No green for me

March 18th, 2010 · 16 Comments · breakfast, sandwich, snacks

I did not celebrate St. Patty’s day at all yesterday. There were no green clothes, trips to the pub or boiled dinners. I’m sure the Irish gods will forgive me since I’m not Irish and all. hehe. Although I should definitely get some brownie points for running the Ras na hEireann 5K in monsoon on Sunday, don’t you think? 😉

Wait, wait, I did have a sip of Adam’s Guinness. Ok, I’m totally in the clear here. 😆

Yesterday’s eats…

1/2 raisin bagel with homemade almond butter, 1/2 banana, reduced fat cottage cheese and an old clementine

Melty almond butter. Doesn’t get much better than that for breakfast!

Love me some cottage cheese too. I need to eat it more often. Old clementines, however, are not my favorite. They are dry and sit like rocks in my stomach but I don’t/won’t throw away food so I’m eating them like they’re the best thing since sliced bread. 😕

I don’t hate running, I don’t hate running! Phew – that was a close one there for a little while. :) It was the most gorgeous weather in Boston yesterday but I decided to stay inside and conquer my interval running fears. I used to love intervals but somewhere along the line (possibly after I got used to running outside) I started to despise them. I had 8×400 on the schedule and I finished them! It was hard and I did take a walking break in the middle but in general I alternated between 6.5 and 8.0 mph for 1/4 mile at a time… 8 times. Duh. I was bright red when I was done but so happy. Yay! 😀

Lunch was a beauty!

Wanna get closer?

Even closer? Ezekiel sesame bun with dijon mustard and a crab cake

Smarter tarter sauce with 1/4 avocado

Good ol’ veggies – carrots and pepper

Assemble and dig in. SO good!!!!!!

A little emotional/boredom eating here folks. TWO paradise bakery cookies (I planned on eating just this one but ended up eating a second – they are BOGO free).

I never said intuitive eating was going to be easy. I’m still somewhere between “I can eat whatever I want and I should truly question my wants.” I knew I bought the cookies for the wrong reason but that didn’t stop me from doing so. I had a stomachache for hours after eating them. That will teach me!

… was snacky. Not really a dinner. I am hosting a Thirsty Thursday party for my co-workers today so the evening was spent grocery shopping, cleaning and prepping. At some point I had a sip of beer (see above) and little crostini with baba ganoush, hummus and the most amazing tomatoes.

I went back for another ww toast with the same combo. Too good!

And that’s how you do it. Did you celebrate St. Patrick’s day? Are you Irish or just like to get in on the festivities?

Peace!

I’ve had those Ezekial buns and they’re delicious!

I also hate to waste food so I always end up finishing leftovers of anything that my husband does not like. I’ll make extra portions for him and then if he doesn’t like it, I’ll have a bunch of it to finish. But I figure I pay good money for good quality food and if it’s still edible than somebody is going to eat it!

Your dinner looks amazing!! I love baba! I’m half Irish and I did wear green but some people just go crazy. I will never understand the appeal of drinking green beer.

omg that sandwich looks amazing, I’ve been having some great meals with avocado lately but that looks so good, i never thought of it with crabcake before.

I love St. Patrick’s Day (because it means I get cake and presents!). Also, being from Boston makes all the non-Irish folk Irish by association. So I take full advantage of the holiday by decking myself in green and drinking a beer! :)

I’m not Irish either and I didn’t wear green or even have a sip of beer. I don’t think it matters…not to me anyway haha!

I hate wasting food too. Good job on those intervals!

All of your meals look SO good today! I am very Irish, so I celebrated by making some Irish soda bread and going to work!

My husband grew up in Ireland, and I am of Irish descent, and we stayed home and watched The Quiet Man, a great old Irish movie. We are exciting like that.
Those tomatoes are sooo pretty and juicy looking. Making me dream of summer and farmers’ markets!

I am so not a weeknight partier so I celebrated last Saturday, although not to the same degree as a lot of people in Chicago. I met up with someone who was out since 12 where as I didn’t make it out till 8. Watching everyone else be sloshed off their feet was amusing though.

Aw not to worry, Elina! You had your cookies, they’re a treat you really love, and they didn’t cause you to binge and eat everything in sight afterward. That sounds like progress to me (not saying that you always do that, but you know what I mean!)

Ok, I clearly need to stop letting posts build up so much that I have no idea what is going on in my favorite bloggers lives. Also need to start from the beginning rather than reading backwards.
That said, I take it you are back on IE 😉 I hope it goes well! By the look of today it looks like it is!
