b.good catered lunch

March 28th, 2009 · 10 Comments · Boston, restaurant reviews

Wow, time flies when you’re running around like crazy 😉

I’m back from NY – Thursday was a loooong day! I woke up at 4:30am, made myself semi-presentable and got on a train to NY. After an all day conference (no I did not get to see or go anywhere in the City) I got back on the train and didn’t get home until 11pm.  Yeah, long day.  And my recent lack of sleep really caught up with me, so I was like a zombie at work on Friday morning.  At least I had a b.good catered lunch to look forward to 😀

So I talk about b.good a lot on this blog.  I just love the place!  It’s fast, it’s delicious, and they post nutritional info which makes it easier to make healthy choices as I’m trying to work with a calorie “budget”.  About 2 months ago, when I went there for a salad for lunch (thank you blog for helping me keep my food straight :) ) I dropped my business card in one of those little jars by the register for a “chance to win a free catered lunch for your co-workers.” Guess what?  I won! Sweeet!!

So fast forward a few months, Jon from b.good contacted me and yesterday was the day. I was psyched.  Every time we have catered lunch at work it’s greasy pizza, burgers or hot dogs.  I often skip those functions or bring my own food (yes, I get stares) and that’s when I feel extra motivated to eat healthy.  On other days I indulge in the nasty over-processed food so a healthy lunch from b.good right in our office was a really fun way to change things up.  And let’s just say, I was quite popular all day 😉 Everybody loves free food! 😀

I thought I wouldn’t be able to share this with you since my co-workers don’t know about the blog, but I was able to quickly snap a few photos before the rest of the gang got there. Jon hooked us up!  So much delicious food!! Let’s see what we have here…

b.good catered lunch spread

Lots of sliders (they don’t have sliders in their restaurants but they offer them as part of their caterings menu):

b.good sliders

more sliders

Sweet potato baked fries

sp baked fries

Sesame ginger chicken saladmesclun, carrots, jicama, edamame, sesame seeds, sesame sticks, orange-soy dressing

Asian chicken salad

Mango fruit shakes and chocolate milkshakes:

And my plate: west side burger (avocado, cilantro, tomato, chipotle salsa), some salad and sp fries + a chocolate milkshake

my plate

Yeah, go ahead and multiply the plate above by 2, because I first went back for more salad, then got a few more fries and then when everyone else was getting more burgers (actually the guys grabbed 2 sliders right away) I grabbed a chicken sandwich. It was so good! I also drank maybe 2/3 of the milkshake and tried the mango fruit shake as well. I liked the mango (nice, thick and mango-ye :) ) but we all know I’m a chocolate kind-of-girl 😀

Everyone really loved the food! One of my coworkers said the milkshake was the best he’s ever had! I’d say those babies are not healthy though, so drink in moderation! Our secretary said she’ll consider them for our next event.  My work is planning a party for the MLB opening game… I can just hope they choose b.good over the other guys! I’m sure b.good is more expensive (since they do produce a much higher quality product) so we’ll see… I did my part! :)

I was in Harvard Square today (Saturday) and almost had b.good for lunch again.  Yeah, obsessed much? 😉 No worries I won’t bore you to death with the same old food.  More to come on today’s eats later…

Hope you’re all having a great weekend!

March 25th, 2009 · 18 Comments · 30 Day Shred, pizza, snacks, turkey, yogurt

So it’s 10pm, I just stuffed my face with dinner and I have to wake up at 4 something to go to NY for an all day conference I just found out about today.  This is going to have to be quick :)

BEST MEAL OF THE DAY

ww pizza with lean turkey, black beans and spinach

pizza closeup

I used TJ’s ww dough with 2% cheddar, TJ’s pizza dough, lean ground turkey, black beans and some spinach.  What you see above is actually 1 slice worth of pizza dough, but you should double the picture above because I went back for seconds :) Sorry, no time to calculate the calories…

OTHER EATS

TJ's nonfat european style yogurt, 1/2 banana, some freeze dried banana slices, dried cherries, pb puffins, chocolate granola and natural peanut butter

yogurt closeup

[453 calories – includes morning coffee + handful of pb puffins consumed as a pre-shredding snack :) ]

I did NOT like those banana slices.  Bleh.

pre-workout snack: wasabe dried edamame + sugar snap peas

[89 calories]

leftover cashew curry with tofu, cauliflower, asparagus and brown rice

[356 calories]

last banana pistachio fig muffin

[189 calories]

1/2 Zoe's chocolate peanut butter bar

I didn’t like the guy above either.  More on that when I have more time :)

WORKOUT

I woke up bright and early to do the Level 2 of Shred (I think I’m at day 18).  I am not a morning person at all, but somehow it seemed to be easier this morning than last night.  And I loved being done with it before 7am!  There may be more morning workouts in my future :) Workout stats:

  • Duration: 0:25 + stretching
  • Calories burnt: 204 (40% fat)
  • Ave HR: 144 (74%); Max HR: 188 (98%)

During lunch I took a spinning class. I was actually really excited for it, so that made for an extra fun (and tough) workout.  I really got into it 😉 Spinning stats:

  • Duration: 0:41 + stretching
  • Calories burnt: 407 (35% fat)
  • Ave HR: 159 (82%); Max HR: 199 (103%)

I won’t be able to blog tomorrow. I’ll be literally gone all day. K, gotta run! 😀
