Yogi Tea says believe in yourself

Oh man, I can’t believe a day and a half passed already since my last post.  Time flies by when you’re having fun :)

I did try to take a nap yesterday afternoon with not much luck… I think I maybe slept for like 20 minutes and after another 20 minutes of tossing and turning decided to just get up and get on with my day.  I did, however, get the post-nap hunger.  Do any of you ever experience this?  I don’t take naps often, but every single time I do, I wake up a ravenous animal.  Weird.

Anyways, to solve this hunger issue I reached into my bars box, and found this bruised Peanut Butter Pretzel Mojo bar:

I had to save it! 😆  Here it is unwrapped.  Look at all the yummy stuff in there – peanut butter chips, pretzels, chocolate, peanuts.  I really liked this kind!!!

Then I updated my About Me page.  It’s been on my to-do list for a while now.  I figured it was time to share a little bit more about myself so you guys know where I’m coming from.  So check it out :)  Oh, and I added the B&B page too.  There will be a new post added to it later tonight.

After all of this, it was time to get to exercising!  I couldn’t let my day off go to waste without racking some HBBC points!

WORKOUT

First up, I took advantage of my husband being out of the house and hit up our local cable on demand yoga selection.  I chose the 45 minute Yoga Fitness Fusion class.  I guess it was a mix of yoga and strength?  Not bad.  I wore my HRM just for fun, and here are my stats:

  • Duration: 0:45
  • Calories burnt: 123
  • Ave HR: 88, Max HR: 207 (that’s when I was doing a weird plank with a leg twist move – ouch!)

And then I hit the gym for the real workout…

I did 5 min on the elliptical to warm up, then completed one of Jillian Michael’s workouts that took about 55 minutes, another 1.05 mile run at 6.5 mph and 15 minutes on the stationary bike.  Here are the stats for this workout:

  • Duration: 1:25
  • Calories burnt: 576
  • Ave HR: 128, Max HR: 210

Total HBBC points: 1.5+4+1.05+1 = 7.55; total HBBC points to date: 85.1

Next up…

DINNER

Before hitting the gym, I prepped some tomatoes, garlic and red pepper with instructions for my husband on how to roast them.  The plan was to make the Roasted Tomato Soup using this recipe from 101 Cookbooks.  When I got back from the gym, the house smelled heavenly!  Unfortunately the garlic got burnt over the 45 minutes I told my husband to bake it for :(  I know that Heidi mentions to watch the garlic and pull it out when it’s at a gooey consistency but I figured it would be ok.  Nope – apparently that’s key! Oops 😳  Anyways, I pureed what I could scrape out of the burnt garlic cloves with the rest of the veggies with some chicken broth (maybe about 1 cup – that’s what gave it the thick consistency we wanted), added the spices and more S&P and made a nice little open faced cheese sandwich with a sourdough baguette hunk.  So good!  Next time, I would definitely want more garlic though!  Roasted garlic would have added a lot more complexity, I think.

And of course I wanted to dessert to round out the meal.  I picked up some chocolate souffles at Trader Joe’s last time we were there.  Molten chocolate cake is my favorite thing to order at fancy restaurants and this one seemed like it could satisfy the craving at home.  It comes in little ramekins and you bake it straight from frozen.  About 25 minutes later I had this:

I enjoyed it with some nice Yogi green tea, that had a very sweet message: Believe in Yourself.  I like it when my tea talks nice to me 😉

This wasn’t as intense as I’d like it to be (darker chocolate would have been better) but I’ve definitely had similar tasting molten chocolate cakes in restaurants.  I think this appeals to more palates.

Then we watched Wall-e and I munched on some baby carrots straight from the bag…
